Our Story: Such A Good Read !

Definitely worth the two minutes

Death, to death by power point

As a relatively new paramedic, I'm fueled by ambitions to enhance my skill set by obtaining a critical care endorsement alongside my paramedic licensure by the end of 2024. Beyond personal growth, I'm deeply passionate about revolutionizing EMS education in Montana. I aim to steer away from the conventional "death by PowerPoint" approach and advocate for a more engaging, hands-on learning experience. It concerns me to witness the new wave of prehospital care providers being confined to a "basic" mindset. The reality is, there's nothing basic about evaluating a patient's condition, whether sick or injured. While our licensure dictates certain treatment boundaries, it doesn't restrict our capacity to thoroughly assess patients. My vision is to cultivate a culture of professionalism within the EMS community, nurturing the next generation of EMS professionals to excel in their assessments and patient care practices

My journey into paramedicine was largely self-directed. Following the completion of every paramedicine textbook mandated by my college, I delved into a plethora of emergency medicine literature. Seeking practical experience, I gravitated towards an area in the state known for its high prevalence of serious medical conditions. Here, I encountered patients with complex issues spanning multiple organ systems, often teetering on the brink of criticality. Over the ensuing years, I honed my skills through hands-on interaction with predominantly unstable and potentially critical patients. Many of these individuals faced challenges stemming from lifestyle choices that complicated their transfer to higher levels of care. Armed with this knowledge I cultivated a sense of confidence that translated into calmness during high-pressure situations. It was my unwavering passion for emergency medicine that guided my path, and it's this same passion that I aspire to instill in every student I encounter.
